NEW Doug Fleenor DMX to Analog Converter

The Doug Fleenor DMX12ANL-5 and DMX12ANL-TB series are 12 channel DMX512 to analog 0-10V interfaces designed to let a DMX lighting controller drive devices that accept analog control voltage, such as architectural dimmers, relays, motorized shade controllers, and other 0-10V inputs. Each analog output can source or sink up to 15mA, with no user adjustments or modifications needed to select sourcing or sinking modes, which simplifies commissioning in the field.

Each output channel has a dedicated common terminal to ease field wiring. The DMX512 input is optically isolated from the analog outputs for added protection in installed systems, while the analog outputs are not isolated from each other.

Connector Options and Installation Details

Two versions are available to match your cabling and termination preferences: the DMX12ANL-TB uses 3 position pluggable terminal blocks for DMX input and thru, while the DMX12ANL-5 uses 5 pin gold plated Neutrik male (input) and female (thru) XLR connectors. Outputs are provided on two 12 position pluggable terminal blocks, each with 6 outputs and 6 commons, for clean, serviceable wiring in panels and racks.

DMX Compatibility, Addressing, and Status

The input accepts DMX512, DMX512/1990, or DMX512-A signals (0.2 volts minimum, 12 volts maximum) using a protected EIA-485 receiver (LT1785) with robust protection, undamaged by up to 60 Volts continuous and 15KV transients. The DMX footprint is twelve consecutive DMX slots beginning with the selected DMX starting address, which is set via a three digit front panel thumbwheel switch. Address changes are immediate, with no power cycling required.

Front panel indicators support fast troubleshooting: a red POWER indicator, a green MIMIC 1 indicator that mimics the level of output 1, and a green SIGNAL indicator that illuminates when DMX512 is present and flashes when local control is active.

Local Control Modes (Useful for Testing)

Built-in local control functions can simplify checkout without a console: address switch setting of 601 turns on output 1, 602 turns on output 2, etc; switch setting of 697 turns on all outputs if any DMX level is above zero; switch setting of 698 turns on all outputs if DMX is present; switch setting of 699 turns on all outputs.

Power, Cooling, and Physical Specs

The unit operates on 120 VAC 60 Hz 0.5 Amps and uses convection cooling (no fan required) for silent operation. Finish and enclosure details include silver hammer tone on the top, bottom and sides, with black front and rear. Size and weight are 6.5" deep x 1.7” high x 8.25" wide, 5 pounds.

Important Notes and Options

Termination: None. Unused pass through connections must be externally terminated. 0-12 volt output is available on special order. Output isolation diodes can be installed for theatrical dimming applications (ANSI E1.3 current sourcing).
