Evertz 5601ACO2 Automatic Changeover
Description
The Evertz 5601ACO2 Automatic Changeover is a 2RU changeover unit designed to protect television station timing and synchronization by automatically switching between two 5601MSC Master Clock/Sync Generators (not included). Built around latching relays for dependable, stable switching, the 5601ACO2 is intended to minimize disruption in the event of a failure while maintaining continuity across all 5601MSC outputs. The 5601ACO2 is a 2RU ACO for all outputs of the 5601MSC.
Automatic, Manual, and Remote Changeover Control
To fit different operational workflows, protected front-panel switches allow you to select automatic operation, front panel activation, or GPI-triggered changeover. Front panel status LEDs provide at-a-glance confirmation of input health and current operating mode, and a dedicated push button helps troubleshooting by displaying the cause of the last changeover.
Voting-Based Switching Logic for Signal Confidence
In automatic mode, the changeover uses a voting system based on which source has the most valid signals, and that the valid signals on the present master are also on the backup. This approach is designed for environments where losing reference, sync, or time outputs can affect multiple downstream systems.
Outputs Supported and System Integration
The 5601ACO2 supports a broad range of reference, timing, and audio-related connections used in broadcast plants, including 6 video/sync or other coaxial signals, a 10MHz frequency reference, word clock output, DARS and 2 AES, 2 longitudinal (LTC/EBU) timecode outputs, 8 SD/HD/3G outputs, and 2 analog video test signal outputs. For monitoring and configuration in compatible environments, VistaLINK control is supported (5600ACO2 and 5601ACO2 only).
Serviceability and Reliability-Focused Hardware
Designed to keep critical infrastructure online, the unit includes dual hot swappable power supplied and fans, along with a hot swappable main board. GPIO input/outputs are provided for external control and status integration.
