Description
The AJA Ki Pro Ultra provides 4K DCI/UHD recording and monitoring in a rack mountable unit. You can record 4K in DCI, UHD, and HD at up to 60p. Supporting ProRes codecs up to ProRes 4444, with familiar VTR-style front panel controls, the Ki Pro Ultra is simple to use and records your input video into a robust edit ready format.
Designed for 4K, UHD, and HD Production Workflows
Built for on-set, live event, studio, and post production environments, the Ki Pro Ultra captures common 4K and HD frame rates and scan types, including 4096 x 2160 and 3840 x 2160 in progressive and PsF formats, plus 2K and HD options. The integrated 1280 x 720 TFT LCD provides video confidence monitoring alongside clear menu/status overlays, helping operators verify signal and settings directly at the unit.
Professional Codecs and File Containers
Record in Apple ProRes (.MOV) or Avid DNx formats (MXF or .MOV as supported) for straightforward integration into established NLE and finishing pipelines. Codec support includes Apple ProRes 4444 (up to 4K/UltraHD/2K/HD 30 fps), the ProRes 422 family (HQ, 422, LT, Proxy), plus Avid DNxHR (HQX/SQ/LB up to 4K/29.97 fps) and Avid DNxHD options up to 1080p 59.94 fps, enabling you to balance image quality, storage needs, and turnaround time.
Sync, Timecode, and Remote Control
For multi-camera and broadcast-style setups, the Ki Pro Ultra supports SDI timecode (RP188/SMPTE 12M) and LTC I/O via BNC. Dual looping reference inputs accept blackburst or tri-level sync for stable timing. A built-in 10/100/1000 Ethernet interface provides an embedded web server for REST-based remote control, transport and configuration via a web interface, video confidence monitoring in-browser, and clip upload/download when operating in DATA-LAN mode.
Additional Production Essentials
Closed captioning support includes CEA-708 and CEA-608. File system support includes HFS+ and exFAT for flexible media handling across common production computers. The compact chassis measures 8.64 x 9.34 x 3.31 inches and weighs 5.6 pounds, making it practical for rack installation or mobile carts where space and weight matter.
