 Infocomm 2024 Recap

It's hard to believe this show was back in early June, but 4Wall was on the floor at this year's Infocomm in Las Vegas, NV.  InfoComm is the largest professional audiovisual trade show in North America, with thousands of products for audio, conferencing, and collaboration, display, video, streaming, control, digital signage, Enterprise IT, security, VR, higher education, and live events.  Infocomm opened its doors from June 12-14, with lots of new technologies, trends, and products to discover.

It is also important to note that Infocomm is just as important for networking and meeting new people in our industry.  The best part of the show is reconnecting with people you only get to see annually and catching up with them.  Sometimes they are at a new company or got a promotion in their current one.  The people make Infocomm what it is, and it's the best part of the show.

Here are some stats on the 2024 edition of Infocomm:
36,967 total registered attendees
833 Exhibitors across 407,000 net square feet
125 countries represented
International attendance made up for 23% of attendees

A major trend this year was the incorporation of AI concepts into our AV technologies.  Currently, some of the most sophisticated AI technologies live in the video space, with camera tracking and video enhancements as great examples.  It will be interesting to see how far artificial intelligence advances at the 2025 show in Orlando.

Here are a few notable products from the show floor:

AV Franklin - Dynamic Lite "Tripod Screen Killer"
The Dynamic Lite looks like a regular fast-fold type screen, but it is designed to be setup more efficiently than an 8' tripod screen (including the dress kit!).  It is available in a 6' and 8' option and is made of very lightweight aluminum.  One person can set this screen in just minutes. Absen Live - Flex Series

For unparalleled flexibility and creativity, the Flex Series offers exceptional adaptability, allowing for large-angle concave or convex shapes, cylindrical or 90-degree arc shapes. Perfectly complementing Absen's NT/PL V10/PL V2 series, the Flex Series merges cutting-edge performance with sleek, curved aesthetics, promising a high-quality and captivating visual experience.

ROXX - E.SHOW maxx TW+
The new E.SHOW maxx TW+ expands the SHOW series with a 800W luminaire with perfect whites and brilliant colors. The new IP65-certified spotlight with its specially developed 6-colour LED chip has an enormous output of up to 10,000lx at a beam angle of 14° / 5m. For big shows, large exhibitions and studio applications, where up to now costly and maintenance-intensive discharge lamps were used.  In addition, there is a novel "one-hand lens change system" and there is the option for powerless presets of dimmer, CCT and colors, which saves enormous time during set-up and setup. This is complemented by an optimized rigging bracket, an integrated CRMX transmit and receive function and, of course, the new spotlight also works directly with the ROXX.APP.

Brompton SQ200
Brompton Technology unveils the world's most powerful 8K video processor, Tessera SQ200. It follows in the footsteps of the multi-award-winning SX40, delivering the same core feature-set and full backward-compatibility with existing Brompton-powered LED panels, as well as existing XD data distribution units, but now supporting 8K and 4x4K workflows and added support for AV-over-IP protocols such as ST2110 and IPMX. The SQ200 brings a staggering 20-fold increase in power over the SX40, making it the world's most powerful 8K LED video processor and ensuring ample headroom for many years of continued feature innovation.

RF Venue - Spectrum Recorder
The RF Venue Spectrum Recorder simplifies monitoring and optimizing wireless microphone and in-ear monitor systems. It continuously captures RF activity in the 400-700 MHz band, saving data as time-stamped CSV files on its internal storage. These files can be retrieved directly via USB drive or accessed remotely over a local network.

Holoplot X1 and X2
This year, I had the opportunity to get a one-on-one demo of the X1 speakers in action.  At the Holoplot offices in Las Vegas, I had the opportunity to hear a full system as intended in a live event environment with multiple use cases built into the demo.  The demonstration that really caught my attention, was a recording of a live band playing.  While I was standing in the center, the band played seamlessly with a singer belting out lyrics in English.  As I stepped 2 steps to the left, with NO transition or fade, the singer was now singing in Spanish.  Then, as I stepped 2 steps the the right of where I started, the singer transitioned into a third language, and I was floored.  The technology was so precise and so dialed in that you could not hear any transition between the 3 vocal tracks, nor could you hear interference from the other 2 in the live environment.  I also had the chance to demo the system at the Sphere and its an absolutely incredible experience.  I highly recommend checking out a real-world application demo of this system.
